Yes, this is your chance to play chess with Naoko and Atsuko Yamano of Shonen Knife, before they hit the stage at the Horseshoe Tavern at 11 pm Shogi Knife, conceived and organized by tomolennon, Camilla Singh(M.o.c.c.a) and Walter Willems(Toronto Zoo Live Arts), aspires to blend chess, rock and art into a efruit loop dreamf filled with devious tactics and visual delights. Each highly anticipated move in the game, will be monitored through live video feed, accompanied by famous secret VJ *****'s scintillating commentary. The Director of the Toronto Shogi Club, Chester Mr.Sakamoto will be present to lend a strategic hand to those of us who donft play Shogi everyday. So, let the game begin and rock out on the board. For all you cats who donft know Shonen Knife, the all-female rock band fromOsaka was formed in 1981 and started making their own music which was mostly influenced by their favourite punk rock groups such as The Buzzcocks, Ramones and The Jam. Although none of them had ever played their instrument before, the group's energetic live performance and catchy punk music, sung in both English and Japanese, spread throughout the Japanese underground scene like a forest fire; leading the sensation to cross the border to reachNorth America and theU.K. Ever since, Shonen Knifecontinues to bring joy and happiness with their keen bubble-gum music, fascinating millions with their everlasting talent.
